Removing unwanted body hair is a tedious task that many men and women perform every day. Thankfully, permanent hair reduction is now possible with the Vectus Laser. Safe and effective laser hair reduction treatments deliver long-lasting results in just a few short sessions.
How Does Vectus Laser Hair Removal Work?
During laser hair reduction treatments, a laser beam passes through the skin to individual hair follicles. The intense heat of the laser damages hair follicles and inhibits future hair growth, but does not harm the patient’s surrounding skin. Several treatments with the Vectus are necessary to permanently reduce hair. Laser treatments can only eliminate hair while it is in the growth phase. Since not all of the follicles are in the growth stage at the same time, treatments are spaced apart so all of the hair can be destroyed. Laser hair removal is safe and recommended for practically all areas of the body including the face, arms, back, underarms, legs, chest and the bikini area.
What to Expect During Laser Hair Reduction
Laser hair reduction is quick, effective and has few side effects. You will begin to see results after just one short session, although several treatments are required to reduce hair permanently. Depending on the size of the treatment area, laser hair removal sessions with the Vectus Laser can last from a few minutes to a half-hour. The Vectus has the largest laser spot size on the market, which allows for quicker hair removal treatments on larger areas. Best of all, the side effects are no worse than the redness, itching and cuts you would receive from shaving or waxing. Some people may experience slight side effects after treatment including a sunburn-like sensation and some minor swelling.
Vectus Laser Technology – Technically speaking
A hair reduction laser is attracted to the pigment/color of hair. Therefor it is vital that hair being treated has medium to being treated (i.e. black/brown) for best results. Hair of lighter shades, white, grey, blonde, will not attract the laser well and treatments would likely not be as successful.
The laser when fired will follow the pigmented hair down the follicle, releasing the laser heat in the bulb of the follicle targeting the stem cells. The heat will damage the stem cells within the bulb and therefor hair growth will cease. Human hair grows in three phases, laser hair reduction targets actively growing hairs only, that means not every hair follicle is targeted in one treatment. Therefore there is a need for 8 sessions, 4 to 8 weeks apart for optimal hair clearance.
